Sales Tax

Daemen University is exempt from state and local sales and compensating use tax on its purchases in New York State. We have been granted this status by the state and have exempt organization certificates available for use when making purchases on behalf of the university. Tax exempt status enables the university to make purchases within New York State without paying the associated sales tax. This results in significant savings to the institution.

Sales tax exemption in states other than New York has been granted for travel purposes. The Business Affairs website has current information regarding other states.

Employees are reminded that purchases made outside the purchasing department and without the use of an exempt organization certificate will not receive reimbursement for any sales tax paid.

Exempt organization certificates are to be used for university purchases only.

To obtain a tax exempt certificate, please email the business affairs office at business@daemen.edu.
